A. Abraham Counseling
Therapist in Lake Worth, Florida
A Little About Me
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a background in child and family welfare and school social work. I attended Emory University, where I studied Sociology and Religion, before earning my Master of Social Work with specializations in Child and Family Welfare and School Social Work.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to work with children, teens, young adults, and families in both school and clinical settings. I have worked as a child trauma therapist, supporting children and families through some of the most difficult experiences of their lives. I’ve helped children process trauma and other challenging experiences, understand their emotions, develop healthy coping skills, and begin to feel a greater sense of safety and confidence.
My experience working in schools has also given me a unique understanding of the many things that can affect a young person’s emotional well-being. Academic pressure, friendships, bullying, family changes, behavioral challenges, self-esteem, and major life transitions can all have a significant impact on how a child or teenager feels and functions.
These experiences have shaped me into the therapist I am today: compassionate, curious, patient, and committed to creating a space where young people feel genuinely seen and understood.

A Clinical Approach
Grounded in Grace
I believe therapy should feel like a place where you can take a breath, feel understood, and be yourself. I don’t believe there is a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy, especially when working with children and teens. Every person has their own personality, experiences, strengths, challenges, and way of understanding the world.
My approach is warm, collaborative, developmental, and trauma-informed. I draw from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, and other strategies that are tailored to each person's needs.
With children, therapy may not always look like traditional talk therapy. Sometimes it looks like playing a game, drawing, creating something, practicing a new skill, or finding a creative way to express something that feels too big to put into words. With teens and young adults, therapy may involve more open conversation about relationships, identity, school, stress, grief, anxiety, or figuring out what comes next.
I want my clients to feel that therapy is something we are doing together. My role isn’t to tell you who you should be or how you should feel. Instead, I’m here to listen, help you make sense of your experiences, build practical coping skills, and recognize the strengths you already have.

"True wellness is built on a foundation of compassionate grace and developmental resilience."

Why I do this Work
I’ve always been drawn to working with young people because I believe the support they receive during childhood and adolescence can have a lasting impact on how they see themselves and navigate the world around them.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of sitting with children and families during some incredibly difficult moments. I’ve seen children carry experiences that feel far too big for them to understand on their own, and I’ve seen the difference that can happen when they have a safe person who listens, believes them, and helps them understand what they’re feeling.
I’ve also seen children and teens discover strengths they didn’t know they had.
That is one of the things I love most about this work. Therapy isn’t about changing who a child is or making difficult experiences disappear. It’s about helping them understand themselves, process what they’ve been through, learn that their emotions are okay to have, and develop the tools they need to move forward.
I want every child and young person I work with to know that they are more than their hardest day, their biggest emotion, their diagnosis, their mistakes, or the difficult things they have experienced.

My hope is that through therapy, they can begin to see themselves with more compassion, build confidence in their ability to handle challenges, and recognize that their past does not have to determine their future.
Ultimately, I want my clients to do more than simply get through difficult moments. I want to help them heal, grow, and thrive.
